Privacy Policy and Terms of Service for the ChainLearn app.
Last updated: 17 May 2026 Effective date: 17 May 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the ChainLearn mobile application (“the app”, “ChainLearn”) on iOS and Android.
ChainLearn is operated by Kaan Cankaya, located in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
By downloading, installing, or using ChainLearn, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
ChainLearn is a language learning application built around “Cumulative Chain Learning” — every word you add becomes connected to your prior vocabulary through generated example sentences and a spaced repetition review system.
The app supports three languages (English, Spanish, Turkish) as both UI languages and learning languages.
You must be at least 13 years old to use ChainLearn. Users between 13 and 18 should obtain a parent or guardian’s permission.
You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account, and to keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
You may use ChainLearn with up to 20 words in your chain without any subscription. After 20 words, you must subscribe to continue adding new words. Existing 20 words and their review schedule remain accessible.
Premium unlocks unlimited word additions. Subscriptions are offered as:
Prices vary by country and may change over time. Any price change is communicated before it takes effect and does not apply to your current billing period.
All payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We do not handle your payment details directly. By subscribing, you agree to the respective platform’s terms.
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage and cancel subscriptions through your App Store or Play Store account settings.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your App Store / Play Store account. After cancellation, you retain premium access until the end of your current billing period, then the app downgrades to read-only mode (you can view your chain but cannot add new words or perform reviews).
Refunds are handled exclusively by Apple and Google according to their respective refund policies. We do not issue refunds directly.
If a free trial is offered, the subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless you cancel before the trial ends.
Your “chain” — the words you choose to learn — is yours. We do not claim any ownership of your vocabulary list or your learning progress.
Example sentences generated by our LLM provider (Anthropic) for your chain are produced for your personal learning use. You may use them freely for that purpose. We do not claim ownership of generated sentences associated with your account.
You agree not to:
We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these restrictions.
ChainLearn uses Large Language Models (Claude, by Anthropic) to generate example sentences, definitions, and to perform optical character recognition (Book Scan). LLM output may occasionally be:
We make best-effort use of fallback layers (cached real-world examples from Tatoeba and YouTube precede LLM generation), but we do not guarantee accuracy. The app is a learning aid, not an authoritative dictionary or translator.
We aim to keep ChainLearn available 24/7, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The app depends on third-party services (Supabase, Anthropic, Apple, Google, etc.) that may experience outages. We are not liable for service interruptions caused by these third parties.
We may perform maintenance, updates, or feature changes at our discretion. Major changes affecting paid users will be communicated in advance where reasonably possible.
Our Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. By using ChainLearn, you agree to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.
You may stop using the app at any time and delete your account through Settings → Account → Delete Account, or by contacting us.
We may suspend or terminate your account if:
On termination, premium access ends immediately if termination is for cause, or at the end of the current billing period otherwise. Your data is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.
CHAINLEARN IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR UNINTERRUPTED, THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED, OR THAT THE APP IS FREE OF VIRUSES OR HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
YOUR LEARNING OUTCOMES DEPEND ON YOUR ENGAGEMENT WITH THE APP. WE MAKE NO PROMISES ABOUT FLUENCY, EXAM SCORES, OR ANY SPECIFIC LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY OUTCOME.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
THIS LIMITATION DOES NOT APPLY TO LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE EXCLUDED OR LIMITED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW (E.G., AUSTRALIAN CONSUMER LAW MANDATORY GUARANTEES).
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the app.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Victoria, Australia, unless mandatory consumer law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
If you reside in the European Union, the European Consumer Centre Network (ECC-Net) can help with cross-border disputes.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will:
If you do not agree with the updated Terms, your remedy is to stop using the app and delete your account.
Some example sentences shown in the app may be sourced from Tatoeba.org when available. Tatoeba textual sentences are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 France license (CC-BY 2.0 FR). ChainLearn uses them with attribution and otherwise falls back to model-generated examples.
